Tourism Victoria

Tourism Victoria is a vibrant and dynamic State Government statutory authority actively marketing Melbourne and Victoria as a premier tourism destination both domestically and internationally.

Together with all the regions of Victoria, the state tourist office works effectively to raise the profile of the state and position Melbourne and Victoria as a "must see" destination of choice for visitors.

Melbourne, the gateway to Victoria and the rest of Australia, is the country's sports and cultural capital and Tourism Victoria is working hard to promote the city's calendar of cultural, food and sport events that run throughout the year including the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the Formula One Australian Grand Prix and the Melbourne Cup. The city is also famous for its food and style, offering a wide range of cuisine and some of the best shopping and nightlife in the country.

As Australia's most compact and diverse state, Victoria offers a huge variety of world-class experiences easily and quickly accessible from Melbourne making it the perfect starting point for the ultimate Australian experience. Visitors can explore different landscapes from stunning national parks and beautiful vine-filled valleys boasting hundreds of wineries to high mountains, sandy beaches, snowfields and wonderful drives including the famous Great Ocean Road. Victoria is also home to a range of unique wildlife including kangaroos, koalas, little penguins, whales and seals.

Melbourne is currently enjoying increased airline capacity with Qatar flights launching its first flights to the city in December 2009. Australia's largest hotel is also due to open in Melbourne in early 2010.
