Get the lowdown on the Med's best value for money hotspots this summer with Frommer's three new With Your Family titles to the Amalfi Coast and Bay of Naples, Turkey and Cyprus.
Written by British authors, these three new titles give the most in depth and up-to-date information on the best value, family-friendly accommodation, dining, attractions, events and hidden gems, and are the UK's leading destination-specific family guides.
Aimed exclusively at families, the pages are packed with hundreds of images and useful information not found in the usual guidebooks, including recommended ages for attractions and advice on baby services and child-friendly policies. Unique insider knowledge and advice includes:
· Special ‘finds' - The ultra-hip four-star Almyra hotel in Paphos, Cyprus, is stylish and baby-friendly - you can pre-order all your baby equipment and supplies online. The Kyma Suite opens onto gardens and a beach and can accommodate two adults, one child and baby in a cot. There is also a fabulous private roof terrace where dinner can be served under the stars
· Great ‘value' deals for families on a budget - In Naples, a family of four can dine on a dish with one drink and dessert each from just 35€ in total at the cosy Osteria La Cucinotta restaurant in the backstreets of the seaside neighbourhood Chiaia
· Destination tips to ensure a fun and stress-free family holiday - In the Aegean region of Turkey, take a boat trip from Foca's quayside to see the protected monk seals that bob about in the waters and lay on the rocks of the bay. Children will also be very excited by a lesser known 16th century byzantine castle on Pigeon Island off the seafront at Kusadasi - formerly a base for pirates, the island was once known as Pirate Castle Island
· ‘Overrated' activities to ensure families do not waste their time or money - The Cyprus author advises that a journey to the Baths of Aphrodite in Cyprus is not worth it. The scenery is beautiful but the baths are just a mossy rock pool in a half cave and visitors might feel slightly ripped off. In Italy, although the House of Faun, one of Pompei's largest houses, is a popular site, the author describes it as overrated as it is overcrowded and there are lots more fascinating attractions to keep the kids entertained
· Tips on sustainable accommodation and attractions - Children of all ages will love The Düzlercami Park in Turkey's Mediterranean region. It is a natural habitat for deer and mountain goats and is educational and fun with its hands on exhibits showing how animals are the subject of a conservation programme
· A handy introductory chapter dedicated to family highlights giving a brief insight into how best to go about planning your trip as well as round-ups including the top ten family experiences, accommodation, family eating and natural wonders
The new titles join the Frommer's With Your Family series - other new titles include Scotland and Wales. Each book provides an in-depth guide to everything needed to make the perfect family holiday.
