We already did the large trade shows (WTM, ITB) and targeted consumer shows (Dive and Wedding) as well as a great deal of cooperative marketing and regular trade email updates for SVG but we still wanted to get cut through to reach key trade partners. We therefore organised an informal destination training evening and held this during the CTO’s Caribbean month of September.
With a very limited budget we recruited partners from the private sector to share costs and add value to the training during the evening. Key tour operator staff and new operators were invited, prizes were given, a sales incentive launched and the atmosphere created was distinctly Caribbean. The event was a huge success, so much so that it is now an annual event that grows each year.
In the past 18 months we increased the number of operators featuring SVG by 25%.
