In 2008, bgb launched six new Etap hotels in the UK, raising the profile of Accor's low-cost 'no frills' product. The new hotels in London Hounslow, Birmingham International Airport, Portsmouth, Leicester, Derby and Manchester Salford Quays brought the Etap portfolio in the UK to 16.
bgb's activity focused on arranging photocalls with regional media and inviting them to stay at the new hotels to experience the simple, stylish yet affordable accommodation they offer. bgb also targeted the national travel news sections, key SME publications as well as the travel and business trade news columns to reach both the leisure and business travel markets. To further maximise coverage, bgb also distributed late deals releases focusing on the opening of the new hotels to all national and regional late availability columns.
