KINGSWOOD LAUNCHES NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN ICT LEARNING
ICT learning made fun through computer games, news alerts, music and adventure
Kingswood Educational Activity Centres has launched three new ICT modules for students (Mission Maker, Kar2ouche and Media Stage), further developing Kingswood as the UK's leading and most innovative educational ICT course provider. Every Kingswood course features pioneering ICT at its heart, with unique, creative curriculum-linked ICT modules to feed young people's imaginations, from computer game design through to composing multimedia news reports and even musical symphonies!
The new Kingswood modules play on students' lifestyles to make learning more relevant and exciting. Mission Maker explores computer programming and digital education through the fun medium of computer game creation. Using state of the art graphics, students are asked to create their own ‘Lara Croft'-style world with tricky problems to solve. The new Kar2ouche module harnesses award-winning creative learning, enabling students to make their own movies, news reports and storyboards using onscreen animation, whilst Media Stage gives students the opportunity to produce their own TV show.
With the possibility of combining ICT modules with other subject areas, Kingswood's cross-curricular learning programmes are designed to enable teachers to pick and choose individual modules from music to ICT, the environment, lifeskills, PSHE and citizenship. These modules are then combined with adventure activities to form a tailor-made programme to suit a specific group's needs.
The modules are constantly updated to introduce new concepts and ensure that children keep abreast of the rapid changes in technology. With almost 1,000 work stations and working with some of the principal names in education technology such as Dell, Harmony Line, Macromedia and Immersive Education, Kingswood takes pride in having the best possible equipment at all of its centres, and has been the leader in its field for over a decade.
Kingswood's programmes make the important process of learning outside the classroom easier for teachers to organise, and more enjoyable and beneficial for students. Outside of the everyday school environment, teachers and classmates have the chance to experience learning as an adventure and are able to bond and develop through outdoor activities. Weekend courses (Friday - Sunday) start from £44 per child.
