Create a website (www.svgtravel.com) in conjunction with responsibletravel.com telling the story of the country from the locals' point of view. We created an insider's guide to the destination using videos and podcasts of local people highlighting why their country is one that should not be missed. This site enabled us to profile many hotels in the destination, which simply would not have budget to market internationally. It also uses social media to profile the destination in a fresh and vibrant way.
We recruited hotel and product partners for the site and once the site launched (in late 2008) we ran an integrated on and offline campaign to drive awareness and sales. This included a series of advertisements, advertorials, outdoor advertising on London transport and a comprehensive online advertising campaign, which included behavioral targeting.
Over 350 enquiries (in the six months since launch) to the small hotels of St Vincent & The Grenadines, plus over 15,000 unique visitors to the website.
