Five new hotels make the Maldives the place to be, with new openings also announced in Mauritius and the Seychelles

Stealing the headlines for 2011, the Maldives is gearing up for a busy year with five brand new hotel openings - the Anantara Kihavah Villa Maldives, the Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, Viceroy Maldives and Jumeirah Vittaveli and Six Senses Laamu. Mauritius is hot on its heals with Long Beach Resort and St Regis Mauiritus confirmed for early summer, while Raffles Praslin in The Seychelles aims to attract both couples and families when it opens its doors on 1st February 2011.

Anantara Kihavah Villa Maldives - opening 15 January 2011
Offering a haven of pool villas, Anantara Kihavah Villas Maldives will open in January 2011. Each villa has a private pool, high ceilings, timber interiors and marble floors, while dining will be amidst a panorama of aquatic life in the world's only underwater wine cellar. The resort will also offer an Anantara Spa.

Prices start from £2659 per person, taking advantage of a '7 nights for the price of 5' offer valid from 8 May - 15 October 2011. Raffles Praslin, Seychelles - opening 1 February 2011
Tucked away amongst lush greenery and gentle slopes of stunning granite, this 30 hectare resort will offer 86 villas, a Raffles Spa and seven restaurants and bars, as well as kid's clubs catering for infants through to 18 year olds. Viceroy Maldives - opening Spring 2011
Set on the pristine, crescent-shaped island of Vagaru, located in the Shaviyani Atoll, Viceroy Maldives will be the first Viceroy to open outside of the Americas. The resort will feature 61 villas, each featuring its own private plunge pool and situated either over water or on the white sand beaches that ring the 17-acre island. Jumeirah Vittaveli, Maldives - opening1 April

Using rich wood, stone and barasti thatched roofs, the Jumeriah Vittaveli aims to attract the discerning traveller. Opening on 1 April, the resort offers 90 villas and suites, interspersed with pockets of green space to ensure guests' privacy. Long Beach Resort, Mauritius - opening 2 April 2011
A major new resort opening on the east coast of Mauritius in 2010, Long Beach Resort will offer piazza style living on the longest and widest stretch of white-sand coastline of any Mauritian resort. The focus of the resort will be an urban-style piazza with restaurants, shops and bars, while architecture is in a contemporary, urban style. Towards the south of the Maldives, Six Senses Laamu is located on the privately owned Olhuveli Island in the Laamu Atoll.
