Master the skills of Japanese cooking and the time honoured art of sushi preparation with the experienced Nobu chefs in Japanese cuisine at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai. The iconic resort is now running culinary master classes on the first Saturday of every month* in the Nobu kitchen, for AED 1,250 (£227) per person.

An introduction to the history of sushi and sashimi is followed by the chance to try sushi preparation under the guidance of the Nobu chefs, led by Chef de Cuisine Chef Hervé Courtot. The three-hour cooking session also includes live demonstrations of tempura making with shrimp, asparagus, and mushrooms. The lesson finishes with a demonstration of Nobu's popular signature Cheesecake, made from baked cream cheeses and sour cream with vanilla bourbon from Madagascar, served with passion fruit and a pineapple sorbet.

After a day's work in the kitchen, guests can relax with a glass of champagne and enjoy a private Nobu three-course lunch featuring the dishes from the cookery class. All ingredients and materials, a welcome cocktail, unlimited soft drinks/tea/coffee and a limited edition Nobu apron are included in the price. Places are limited to just 12 per class, so wannabe chefs are advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Those without the inclination to learn how to prepare sushi like an expert, can still enjoy lunch at Nobu every Friday between 12pm-3pm. A variety of different options are available for lunch including a Bento Box with favourites such as Black Cod, Rock Shrimp Tempura, Salmon Sushi and Tuna Sashimi. * Nobu cooking classes are held the first Saturday of each month (3 April, 1 May, 5 June, 3 July, 7 August, 4 September, 2 October, 6 November and 4 December) from 11am to 2pm. Nobu autographed cook books are also available for purchase.
