The world has learnt a lot of lessons in the past few years. A good news update today from the UNWTO which is establishing a cross-industry information and messaging system - TERN, the Tourism Emergency Response Network.
Because we're a global industry it's heartening to see UNWTO taking such a proactive world-leading role. They will champion governments to ensure that tourism is integrated into national and regional emergency preparedness plans and encourage countries to practice with simulation exercises.
UNWTO is also establishing www.sos.travel as an emergency response portal to serve as a link for the entire tourism sector, destinations and ultimately consumers or their families in extreme emergencies. Worth checking out www.sos.travel
