FIRST BARBADOS FOOD & WINE AND RUM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCED
- British Chef Fergus Henderson to join November Festival -

This November, Barbados will host its first annual Food & Wine and Rum Festival, bringing together a number of celebrated chefs to showcase their culinary skills in a four-day programme of events.

British chef Fergus Henderson, who is best known for his ethos of Nose To Tail Eating, will join the four-day epicurean festival, taking place from 19-22 November 2010. Fergus' St John restaurant in north London, which earned him his first Michelin Star in 2009, has a strong reputation for making culinary delights out of offal and other neglected cuts of meat.

Fergus will join other acclaimed chefs including Tom Colicchio, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai and Tim Love from America as well as wine experts and mixologists, who will produce demonstrations and tastings around the island for locals and visitors alike. Local Barbadian culinary talent will also bring their collective expertise to the masses through chef demonstrations, tasting events and interactive sessions.

The event is being organised by the Barbados Tourism Authority in partnership with American Express Publishing's Travel + Leisure, FOOD & WINE, Departures and Executive Travel brands.

As the culinary capital of the Caribbean and the only Caribbean island to be Zagat-rated, Barbados provides an ideal epicurean host for the festival. Events will take place at restaurants and select hotels across the island, including Sandy Lane, The Cliff restaurant, George Washington House, Lion Castle Estate and the Fairmont Royal Pavilion.

"The Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival provides an ideal platform to showcase our island's gastronomic excellence," said David M. Rice, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Tourism Authority. "We are honored to welcome some of the industry's leading chefs and wine experts to our beautiful island to participate in this world-class culinary event."

A truly authentic Caribbean destination, Barbados mixes European sophistication and culture with nature and heritage sites, culinary excellence and romance, offering small and affordable guesthouses, luxurious villas, all-inclusive resorts, family-friendly hotels, and boutique escapes.

W&O Travel Tropical Locations (www.WandOtravel.com; 0845 277 3300) is offering seven nights b&b accommodation at four-star resort, Little Good Harbour, Barbados from £1,215 per person. This offer is based on two sharing on a room only basis and includes return flights from London Gatwick, private transfers and is based on 15-19 November 2010 departures.
