Low-cost airline easyJet is to launch its first ever route to Sweden from the UK on 6 September 2010. With flights set to fly daily into Gothenburg it has never been easier to visit the country's second largest city. Flights from London Gatwick to Gothenburg went on sale for the first time on 3 June with fares from £27.99 one-way (inc. taxes).
Affordable accommodation packages are also available all over the city at www.visitsweden.com/citybreaks. Why not indulge and relax with a rejuvenating spa break at Sankt Jörgen Park Resort in Gothenburg? Simply visit the VisitSweden City Breaks website to book the ‘Feel Good' package, which includes two nights in a double room at the resort, two spa ‘rituals', two three-course dinners and a daily breakfast buffet as well as full access to the spa and sports club, all from just £272* per person.
The Sankt Jörgen Park Resort offers a relaxing oasis just a short distance from the city centre, with a spa inspired by nature with the Ayurvedian concept of a balanced life creating positive energy. Detox in the saunas with shifting heat zones and fragrances, take a dip in the warm, cool or - if you dare - cold pools or select one of the spa ‘rituals' which have each been designed to relax, revitalise or boost energy. Golf lovers can tee off on the resort's 18-hole golf course and those looking to get really fit can book a personal trainer at the resort's sports club.
A lively city on Sweden's western coast, Gothenburg has a great variety of design-led independent shops, a large natural harbour, great nightlife and a vibrant café culture. During your stay why not treat your body to some fresh, seasonal meals in one of Gothenburg's gourmet restaurants? Wasa Allé is particularly renowned for its seasonal menus, using locally produced ingredients from small-scale suppliers, with fish and seafood sourced from sustainable stocks and a wine list exclusively featuring organic and biodynamic wines.
