Caribbean Tourism Organisation hosts third golf tournament

Caribbean Tourism Organisation 15 July 2009

On Tuesday 30 June the Caribbean Tourism Organisation organised its third golf tournament at the Silvermere Golf Club in Cobham, Surrey, welcoming 48 golf enthusiasts. Advanced and intermediate players played an 18-hole round of golf, and the uninitiated had the opportunity to participate in tuition before playing nine holes.

All groups then met up after their sessions of golf at 17.30 in the club house, to close the day with a barbecue. Virgin Atlantic was the sponsor for the refreshments on the course and post-play drinks.

The day included various competitions, from ‘best team competition’’ for the 18- hole players, through to ‘nearest the pin’’, ‘longest drive’’ and best nine-hole team’’. The individual winners were Paul Verhaak from SuperClubs, taking first place. Second place went to Colin Brodie from Reputations and third place was Mick Beaumont from Thomas Cook Group.

Anne McGonigle, CTO UK chapter manager said, “We are thoroughly delighted to have been able to welcome all our guests and industry partners and supporters to our third CTO open golf event. The event was open to all members, whether a beginner or a more experienced player. The emphasis was on enjoying golf, supporting new players and networking and we had a great day of golf. Our thanks and appreciation go to Virgin Atlantic for their generous sponsorship of this event and to the various gift and prize donators’.
