Following last year’s success, the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) is delighted to announce The Caribbean Travel Journalism Awards 2009, repeating 2008’s popular pan-Caribbean media awards event, which will this year take place on 9 November.
Carol Hay, director of marketing, CTO UK and Europe, commented, “We are delighted to confirm that we will be holding the awards again this year, given the success and popularity of last year’s Caribbean Travel Journalism Awards. The awards will enable us to continue acknowledging the first-rate writing, which is consistently produced about the Caribbean region.
“Support from our friends in the media is fundamental in maintaining the colourful and charismatic reputation that the Caribbean region enjoys in the UK and with so many inspirational editorial pieces written and produced each year, we are keen to highlight and reward the best.”
The Caribbean Travel Journalism Awards will include six categories:
Entries for the awards will be welcomed from editors and journalists, as well as Caribbean tourist boards, tour operators, hotels and other industry partners. Editorial entries can be either news stories or travel features, but all must have been published in the previous 12 months (from 30th May 2008 to 30th May 2009) and present the Caribbean in a positive light, encouraging travel to the region. All entries should be sent to bgb communications for the attention of Richard Rigby along with the attached entry form, by Monday 19th October at the latest.
Results of the Caribbean Travel Journalism Awards 2009 will be announced at the Caribbean Meet the Media event at Caribbean Scene restaurant, Royal Victoria Dock, on Monday 9 November 2009.
