Holland's famous Keukenhof Gardens has opened its gates to prove once again that it really is the world's most beautiful spring garden. 2009 marks the event's 60th anniversary which has welcomed over 45 million visitors since its humble beginnings in 1949.

This year's theme is USA, New Amsterdam to reflect the historical link between the United States and Holland. The gardens will showcase a spectacular flower mosaic of the Statue of Liberty using over 25,000 bulbs. This will lead the way for the amazing American themed walking route and an American garden.

In addition to the American themed areas, Keukenhof draws hundreds of thousands of visitors who come to marvel at the shows, which showcase 80 acres of blooming flowers, consisting of over seven million bulbs in carefully laid-out beds of tulips, narcissi, daffodils and various perennials. April is the best time to watch the flowers grow and on 25 April Holland's Flower Parade, which consists of over 20 floats and 30 flower adorned vehicles will pass through Keukenhof on its 40 km procession.
