 BARBADOS SPORTS CAMP READY FOR THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
- Free football, cricket and netball for youngsters, packages from £2,150 for a family of four -

Don't be stuck for things to entertain tweens and teens this summer - Barbados Tourism Authority has revealed the line up of its popular Barbados Sports Camp for 2010. From 3 - 27 August 2010, young visitors to the Caribbean island can take part in three sports, football, cricket and netball with fantastic coaching advice from sporting legends in each discipline. Available for all 9 - 17 year olds, this fantastic summer event is completely free of charge and each sport can take up to 100 children per day. Places on the Barbados Sports Camp can be booked for 1 - 5 days via the website www.barbadossportscamp2010.com.

Football stars will be on hand to give top tips - including BBC pundit Mark Bright who has spent the last few weeks commentating at the World Cup and former England midfielder John Salako. These former teammates are also coaches at the Crystal Palace Academy so will be able to give invaluable advice on technique and will be joined by former England striker Luther Blissett and midfielder Ray Parlour.

Barbados is known for its love of sport and none more so than cricket. Following the recent success of the England team at the ICC Twenty20 in Barbados, cricket is once again a favourite amongst youngsters and they will be bowled over by the amazing line up of legends who will be coaching the cricket camp. Barbados born former England player Gladstone Small, will be joined by former England players Graeme Hick MBE and Dean Headley and Barbados' own former West Indian cricketer Desmond Haynes.

Future netball stars can look benefit from coaching by former captains Amanda Newton and Fiona Murtagh MBE who have over 200 caps for England between them, goal shooting tips from former England star Alex Astle and the most capped England player Kendra Slawinski CBE.


Family summer packages start at £537 per person:

THREE STAR BUDGET family break from £672 per person for a family of three
British Airways (www.ba.com/barbados / 0844 493 0758) is offering seven nights at the three star Butterfly Beach, Barbados from £2,015 for a family including two adults and one child aged 2-11 yrs (£672 per person) based on August 2010 departures. This price includes return flights from London Gatwick with British Airways and accommodation on a room only basis. This package must be booked by 20 July 2010 for travel in August 2010.

FOUR STAR family break from £537.50 per person for a family of four, saving £645
Caribbean Getaways (www.caribbeangetaways.co.uk / 0208 966 7125) is offering seven nights at the four star Colony Club hotel from £2,150 per family of two adults and two children under 12 (saving £645). This price includes return flights from London Gatwick with British Airways, accommodation in a garden view room on a bed & breakfast basis and private transfers. This package must be booked by 30 July 2010 for travel by 23 Aug 2010.

ALL INCLUSIVE family break from £932 per person for a family of four saving £200 per person
Virgin Holidays (www.virginholidays.co.uk / 0844 557 3859) is offering seven nights at the three star Escape at the Gap from £3,726 for a family of four including two adults and two children (£932.25 per person) saving £200 per person. This price includes return flights with Virgin Atlantic, transfers in Barbados and accommodation in standard room on an all-inclusive basis. Book by 31 July 2010 for travel between 4 - 15 August 2010.

LUXURY from £4540 per family for four, saving £1880 - kids go free
ITC Classics (01244 355 527; www.itcclassics.co.uk) is offering a free stay for up to two children for seven nights at four star Cobblers Cove. Packages are available from £4,540 based on a family of two adults and two children under 16 sharing. This price includes flights with British Airways from London Gatwick, accommodation in a superior suite, private transfers, plus children will receive a free evening meal when dining with their parents and two hours free supervised activities at the hotel including water sports, swimming with turtles and tennis coaching. This offer is valid for travel throughout August 2010.

About Barbados Sports Camp
Children attending the camp will be a mix of local kids and holidaymakers so it is a great opportunity for them to improve their sporting skills and make new friends. Sports Camp is located at the University of the West Indies and runs from 10am to 3pm each day, with plenty of water and food breaks. Local coaches will be assisting from the Barbados Football Association, the Barbados Netball Association and the Barbados Cricket Association. An event company runs the logistics of the camp on a day-to-day basis, on behalf of the Barbados Tourism Authority.
