Antigua’s newest hotel, prepares to open it's doors on 1 December 2009

Sugar Ridge 18 November 2009

A much-anticipated addition to the Caribbean resort scene, Sugar Ridge is set to open its doors to guests on 1 December 2009 on the island of Antigua. Targeting the four-star market Sugar Ridge is expected to quickly establish itself as one of the leading hotels in Antigua.

With an elevated location and stunning vista, Sugar Ridge is located in a natural hillside bordered with sugar cane. All 60 rooms offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape whether picturesque villages, untouched forest terrain of the coastal highlands, or the turquoise Caribbean Sea (and the neighbouring islands of Redonda, St Kitts and Nevis).

Sugar Ridge's rooms have been grouped in fours allowing each to enjoy the spectacular setting, as well as an ambience of quiet seclusion and privacy. Rooms are furnished in a modern, contemporary style, yet retaining the elegance of the Caribbean with colonial accents. The muslin draped four-poster beds are the centrepiece of each room, complimented by state of the art amenities including flat screen TV, iPod docker, electronic safe and mini fridge. Even the bedroom locks are activated by a sound frequency in your key card, ensuring privacy and security. The large veranda includes a day bed whilst the ground floor rooms are complete with their own plunge pool.

Sugar Ridge has two restaurants - Carmichael's the open-air fine dining restaurant, which has been designed to ensure diners can fully appreciate the stunning views from its hill top location and the sensational sunsets. The main hotel restaurant, Sugar Club Restaurant, is located in the heart of the resort overlooking the main swimming pools and adjacent shopping arcade. The resort has three fresh water pools, one with an infinity edge.

A 6,000 square foot spa developed with global sustainability leader AvedaTM provides guests with a full collection of treatments featuring the latest in holistic therapies, manicures, pedicures and a hair salon. The fully air-conditioned gym features Cybex fitness equipment as well as an air-conditioned studio for aerobics, pilates and yoga classes. Literally across the road from Sugar Ridge is a marina, an 18-hole golf course, and some of Antigua's best beaches are just minutes away.

Hilary Modeste, Director of Tourism for UK & Europe comments; "The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is delighted to welcome the opening of Antigua's newest boutique bolthole, Sugar Ridge. We hope to see many UK visitors enjoying the fantastic location of this contemporary resort, as well as the array of activities and historical sites that Antigua and Barbuda has to offer".
