Discover the WWI battlefields from just £25 each way

25 October 2010 - For Armistice day this year, why not take a walk to remember? Lille Tourist Board has launched a guided tour of France and Belgium's poignant WWI battlefields, and SeaFrance is offering crossings from just £25 each way for a car and up to five passengers to visit them.

The guided tour takes in the key WWI sites around the Ypres area - from Messines, the site of one of the Great War's fiercest battles, to the Essex Heart Cemetery, where John McCrae penned his iconic poem ‘In Flanders' Field'. Through visiting battlefields, monuments and cemeteries, the tour aims to give visitors an impression of what took place in the Ypres Salient between 1914 and 1918.

The tour departs from in front of the Lille Tourist Office at 1pm each Saturday until 11 December 2010 and lasts approximately four hours. Visitors can find out more information on http://www.lilletourisme.com.

SeaFrance operates up to 30 daily crossings on the Dover-Calais route. Fares for a car and up to five passengers start from just £25 each way (£50 return) online for any duration and from £19 return for a day trip.
